TIPS
You Can’t Beat Baking Soda
Scrubbing with baking Soda You can use a wet sponge , sprinkle the baking soda on it and scrub your sinks, toilets, tile, and counter tops in place of using a chlorine based cleanser. Dry Baking Soda and Borax will leave a residue try this: Dissolve the baking or Borax or Washing soda in water. Put a cup in some water in a pan on low heat and stir until dissolved than add to your cleaning solutions or add to a spray bottle for cleaning.
Fizzing with baking soda and vinegar or Lemon - Washing Soda will fizz too! Take your All Purpose cleaner and use it with the baking soda. There will be a fizzing action. It is a safe fizz. It is a homemade scrubbing bubbles.
To freshen drains - sprinkle some baking soda down the drain and pour some of your all purpose cleaner on top. Then turn the water on and let it rinse down. It will deodorize your drain and it will eat things that get stuck in your drain.
Greasy Pots and Pans Right after using the Pot or Pan put some soap inside while it is still hot and run water over it. This loosens up the grease and grime and most of it will go on down the drain. You may have to scrub it out a bit. Or you could put plain water in the pan and let it boil a few minutes then pour down the drain.
Use a dry mix to scrub out your stainless steel pans

Equal amounts
Baking Soda Washing soda Borax
Grease on Counters
Clean grease with grease. Pour some oil on the grease and wipe then put some soap on it and wipe up the remainder
Carpet and Baking Soda
Take some baking soda and add your favorite essential oil. You can also add Nancy Power Herbs to the baking soda. Shake up! Sprinkle on the carpet. Vacuum up.
Carpet Stains and Baking Soda
Baking soda is helpful for removing stains. Take one cup of baking soda and four cups of water and let it dissolve then put in a spray bottle and spray on stains.
Everybody puts baking soda in the refrigerator even better when you add some of your disinfectant mixture. You can also try activated charcoal in the fridge. It is much better at absorbing odors. Toilet Bowls Get a cheap pumice from the grocery store (one that falls apart easily) use that to scrub the ring out. Yes, you will need to put your hand in the toilet bowl. Spray the area down first with your disinfectant, flush the toilet, wear gloves and put your hand in there and scrub out the ring with the pumice stone. While your hand is in there go ahead and get that mold from the area around the top of the bowl. A sponge with a scrubbie on one side works great for this. O.k.. you can get your hand out of there and flush the mess down. Is it all clean now? May take a few flushes to get it all out the first time. Yeah! next time will be not be as hard to clean.
Actually, the toilet bowl is not as nasty as the area underneath and behind the seat. Go ahead and spray that down and wipe it clean. Then there is the area near the floor. You will find some dust and sometimes urine (especially if there are and men or little boys using it) Yep, that has to wiped down too. What about the thing we use to flush the toilet. I am pretty sure that needs a wiping down and around the top and sides of the toilet.
Have you thanked, hugged and or kissed, bought flowers and chocolates for your house cleaner or the homemaker Goddess today? Be sure to do that when they come out of the bathroom. I am sure we all appreciate the hard work that goes into a clean toilet.
Bathroom Sinks and bacteria
There was a test conducted that found out that the bathroom sink drain has more bacteria than the toilet! In fact the least contaminated area is the toilet seat and the most contaminated area is the sink drain. See more on this at Where the germs are by Nicholas Bakalar http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0471155896/102-9529036-8604104?v=glance&n=283155
Pour some of your All Purpose Cleaner or your Disinfectant or just straight vinegar down your bathroom sinks weekly to keep them clean.
Save Your Back
Get a broom from the dollar store or anywhere. You can use this broom for cleaning out the tub and shower. Get a good stiff broom. This will keep you from having to bend over so much and it will help to save your back.
Permanent ink marks try Cinnamon or Clove Bud Essential Oil mixed with some olive oil.
Window Cleaning The most effective natural window cleaner is Club Soda. Just plain straight Club Soda. Vinegar works too! Use your All Purpose cleaner. Vinegar works well on soap scum however it is at its best when used as a rinse in the Laundry Add to your dishwasher rinse area or use in the shower after scrubbing it to make a nice rinse and it will really sparkle.
MOLD IN GROUT
Must be scrubbed with a scrub brush and baking soda or borax then rinsed with some vinegar and water solution and hot water And dry completely. Use your soft scrub or your Natural Detergent Recipe. Then finish off by spraying your all purpose cleaner. You can also spray your all purpose cleaner first, let that soak awhile then scrub everything. Make sure to wipe your shower or tub dry. Keeping your shower dry cuts down on mold and mildew. Many people use a squeegie . Let some natural light into the bathroom to cut down on mold and mildew You may want to wear a mask and long gloves to protect yourself from the mold spores. Dry Vapor Steam Cleaners - Work great on mold in grout too. Mold If you have a mold problem you can read all about safe mold removal at EPA Mold Guide http://www.epa.gov/iaq/molds/moldguide.html
Salt
2 cups of water to 1 tsp of salt. Salt is great on soap scum, it gets rust stains and it is a natural bleacher.
Please note that none of these techniques will work as fast as Bleach. ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential Oils should be handled with care. They are strong volatile oils and can be hazardous to you and your family. Keep them away from pets and children. Once they are diluted they are fine.
Lavender Essential oil is universal, it has all of the properties needed for cleaning. It is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and boost the immune system. Most everyone can use it with no allergic reaction. If you are very sensitive to everything and are tired of having no smells around try a little Pure Organic Lavender Essential Oil in you cleaning products.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil is the best for cutting grease. Add some to your mixtures and works great on those rings around the tub, grease on mirrors. Greasy goo on the counters and such. Also will cut soap scum. It is antibacterial, antifungal , antiviral and boost the immune system. Also good on grease Tea Tree oil , then Lavender, then Lemon then Orange.
Lemon Essential Oil - This works best on odors. It is claimed to have whitening properties but I believe that is more for pure Lemon Juice. It has all of the Properties that is it is antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and boost the immune system.
Jasmine Essential Oil - This works great as a cleaner and a whitener. I have found it to be the fastest whitening. It also will kill mold and mildew. I have never read this anywhere but have found it to be true from personal experience.
Thyme Essential Oil - Has all of the properties of being antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial and boost the immune system. It is becoming very popular as the new disinfectant.
Organic Essential Oils are high a very high vibration which means that they have a good strong life force and they give you and your home good vibrations.
HERBS
Infusions: Are for herbs. Making an infusion is like making a strong tea. Boil some water and add 1 tablespoon to one cup of water for about 10 minutes. Let it stand for an hour then pour into a glass jar and use that in your cleaning products. This must be kept refrigerated and will go bad after about two weeks
Decoctions: Are for root and Bark. Simmer for 10 to 30 minutes and the liquid is strained. Use about one ounce of herb to each cup of water. Store in the refrigerator for two weeks
Extracts: Also called Tinctures. Pack your herbs in a jar and cover completely with a solution of 1/2 alcohol or vinegar and 1/2 water. Leave in a sunny spot for 2 to 3 weeks. Only use a little bit of extract in your cleaning products especially if they contain alcohol.
2 cups of water to 1 tsp of salt. Salt is great on soap scum, it gets rust stains and it is a natural bleacher.
A good natural bleach alternative is One cup of castile soap in one gallon jug , fill jug up 1/2 wqy with water add your cup of castile soap then dillute 1/3 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of baking soda and add 1 cup of vinegar add it to your jug , shake and finish filling up with water.
Which Leads me to a the issue of Bleach Addiction. You know you are addicted to bleach when you pull the bleach out for the natural house cleaner to use.
You know your addicted to bleach when you have to open every window in the house when you use it and you STILL use it. Isn’t it time to rethink the whole bleach thing?
Efficient use of time:
Clean starting from top to bottom i.e. ceiling fans to furniture to floors except in the kitchen and bathrooms then sweep the floors first. When water gets onto a dirty floor then it is harder to clean up.
Clean from one side of the room and move around in a circle.
OVER LOOKED OR FORGOTTEN AREAS
Your own bedroom, Ceiling fans, high surfaces, light fixtures, lamps, blinds windowsills , laundry room, The inside of garbage cans the inside of the microwave, salt and pepper shakers
